Playing in Traffik

Well, we had an interesting time at Friday's show in Pasadena. The event as a whole was a success-- great turnout for a show raising awareness about human trafficking. If you dont know, slavery is still an issue today. It's just as prevalent as it was BEFORE the Civil War (or war between the states, if you will).

We had a great turnout from OSA fans... THANKS!!

It's always interesting to me (Patrick, that is) that with very few exceptions, live performances fall into two categories:

1. Poor sound check, great performance
2. Great sound check, poor performance

Unfortunately, Friday night was (in our humble opinion) part of the latter. But we still had a good time (despite the hell-wraith in the speakers) and enjoyed seeing many of our fans at the show. Here are some pics from our first outdoor gig as the new-look One Silver Astronaut.

They're both hott, and they are both musicians!

And sometimes I'm so into it, I forget that I'm supposed to be playing bass guitar...

Thanks guys!

"We are really good!" --CJ Martin

Hey all! Thanks for checking out our blog-xperiment. Patrick here, again. I hope that you are midly entertained while reading my prose. Commments are now open to anyone, so shoot us a word! Also, scroll way down for some goofy pictures that may start a rumor that paula is/is not prego...

Tonight we did the music at the Mosaic gathering and it went really well. Beyond snare breaks, pick drops, broken headphones, funky pedals and uncontrollable laughter we played with our hearts on our sleeves and had a wonderful night. (Pics from tonight are at the bottom of the post!)

A few thoughts about tonight: As a person who comes out to see our shows: THANK YOU! You are the reason that we practice, play and devote so much time to this silver astronaut thing. After the gathering a girl pulled me aside and complimented our playing. I had to compliment her in return-- she was dancing. Seeing the visible effects of our connection with you the fan is just about the greatest thing that can happen to us on stage.

Secondly, thank you for being so encouraging. Whether its here on blogger, myspace, or in person, so many of you throw nice words are way. that roxxors

So what are we up to now? What's new for the band? What do you have to look foward to? How about shows, new songs and remixes?! Is that enough?

I posted our next two shows on my previous post, so check that out. We also are toying around with a new funky/rockin' version of "Bandaid for a Fracture," that began as a mock-jam and is now our collective favorite. Finally, rumor has it that CJ and Shane have collaborated and spawned an epic masterpiece. Think "The End" by The Doors meets "Stairway to Heaven" by Zeppelin. Yeah, at least that's what I've been told.

Well thats it! Thanks for checking out the onesilverblog. Here's the pics!

new begnings

Hey all! Thanks for checking out one silver blog. Patrick, here. It drives me nuts when my favorite bands aren't touring or releasing new music-- I have no idea what they are up to. Maybe its my obsession with rock stars... but I like to know what's going on!

Well, being in a "real" band I now know everything that goes on between concerts and records. Ok, mainly practice and work. But that's what this blog is for-- it's for you and us to connect when we aren't at a club or you aren't listening to us on your iPod. Its for feedback. Its for goofy photos that I take on my cellphone. (Those are below)

So what are we up to? We practiced last night, specifically the songs for Mosaic tomorrow night. We sometimes play the music at the Mayan Nightclub as a part of the Mosaic gathering. Also, we have two gigs coming up, so mark it in your Outlook (or Entourage, for us mac users):

April 18 @ Memorial Park in Pasadena: This will be a show to raise awareness about Human Trafficking. Its FREE! There is a donation, though :)

May 2 @ la casa blue: a cool and trendy cafe.

Thanks a lot for checking out the blog, and we look forward to seeing you on the 18!
